Which Cake Flavor Should You Order in Bali? A Decision Guide

Most people spend 90% of their cake-ordering time on the design and 10 seconds picking a flavor. But the base flavor decides how the cake tastes, how it travels in Bali's heat, and which guests actually go back for a second slice. Here's how to pick — fast.

Original (light German recipe): when the crowd is mixed

Light, fluffy, vanilla-forward. The safest pick when you have no idea who's coming or what they like. Reads as "classic birthday cake" to almost everyone. Works for ages 4 to 84. Pairs well with both white and dark chocolate frosting prints.

Carrot Cake (our most-ordered): the consensus winner

Carrot cake is the most-ordered base in Bali for a reason. Dense, moist, spiced, holds up brilliantly to the heat and the delivery commute. The cream-cheese-style frosting balances the spices.

Best for: adults, mixed adult/kid parties, anywhere you want the cake to actually get eaten instead of pushed around plates.

Chocolate: for kids and chocolate purists

Rich, dark, unapologetic. Kids gravitate to it; adult chocolate fans love it. Less universally appealing than carrot or vanilla — about 25% of guests at any given party "don't want chocolate cake right now" — but the people who do want it really want it. Pairs best with a white frosting print for contrast.

Vegan & Sugar-Free: when guests have restrictions

Our plant-based carrot cake, sweetened with dates, no refined sugar. Tastes the same as the regular carrot cake — surprises everyone who tries it blind. Order this when even one guest has dietary restrictions: skip having two separate cakes and just feed everyone the vegan one. Currently 30% off.

Quick decision rules

If you still can't decide:

  • Mixed crowd of adults — Carrot
  • Mostly kids — Chocolate or Original
  • Anyone vegan, dairy-free, or sugar-conscious — Vegan & Sugar-Free
  • Corporate event — Original (least controversial)
  • You have no information about the guests — Carrot

How the flavor interacts with the print

The base flavor doesn't change the print itself, but it does change which frosting reads best. Black-frosting cakes hide the cake interior color, so chocolate underneath is fine. White-frosting cakes show a hint of the cake through the sides — original and carrot look more natural here than chocolate.
